Merry Christmas!

Once more, the bizarre urge to make something came over me. I think that I am becoming my mother.

Anyway, Christmas Eve is upon us, and I needed a little something for the ladies' stockings. What could be more delightful than a wonderful lip exfoliant?

I loosely followed DoTERRA's blog instructions you can read here. I would suggest reviewing it, or nothing that follows will make very much sense...

The ingredient list was quite simple. As you can see from my picture, I substituted white sugar (from Walmart...it was leftover from the gingerbread cookies that weren't) for the brown sugar the recipe calls for.

My coconut oil is from Costco, and my honey is from Trader Joe's.

Watch out! it is better to mix the first three ingredients without the oils added first. This seemed to help minimize separating.

After experimenting with several batches, I noticed that some separated and others didn't. I tried many variations, and I still can't account for why this occurred (I kept the ugly, discarded stuff aside in a bowl, and am going to use it as a body scrub).

I warmed up my coconut oil a bit first, but don't worry, you don't need to do this. Despite its texture, it does mix up with the honey and sugar. And you get a wrist workout.

Per the recipes instructions, I mixed in Wild Orange oil and Peppermint oil in equal portions, because I wasn't feeling adventurous.

When everything was nicely mixed, I spooned it into ten adorable jars from Hobby Lobby, made up some not so extraordinary labels and put it all together.

It smells, and tastes phenomenal! The Orange and Peppermint are a really nice holiday combination. In the future I would probably try Lavender alone. Or Grapefruit. Yum.

Suffice it to say, the women in our family will be ready for some Mistletoe...:-)

Merry Christmas!
